Academic Structure

Delhi Public School, Jorhat follows the Central Board of Secondary Education curriculum. The CBSE envisions a robust, vibrant and holistic school education that will engender excellence in every sphere of human endeavour. The teaching methodology lays equal emphasis on educational, co-curricular and extracurricular initiatives is an attempt to hone the intellectual, social, emotional, physical, spiritual and ethical development.

Foundational course

We place great emphasis on Kindergarten and Elementary Education believing that the foundation of life is laid in these formative years. The innovative child-centric approach helps us to understand and nurture the child’s capacity of concentration, memory, observation, reasoning, judgment and creativity. Yoga is an intrinsic part of the school system and enhances the physical and mental abilities of children. Holistic development is the main thrust of all activities and celebrations.

A system of “Continuous Informal Evaluation”, based on class work, theme-based worksheets and observation sessions are followed. A biannual assessment report outlines the various aspects of the child’s development.The Kindergarten comprises of Nursery, L.K.G and U.K.G. The school timing for the Kindergarten section is from 8:00 am to 11:30am. The school follows a 5 day week schedul. It also includes classes 1 and 2.

Technology Integrated Learning : Each classroom is upgraded as a multimedia DigiClass including audio-visual aids, demonstrations, simulations, rhymes, games, class libraries, puppet theatre, activity sheets, e-books and 3D interactivity. We also help the UKG students develop lateral thinking by engaging in Lego play conducted by STEM- Robotics education. It employs principles of cognitive learning by using multi-media based animations, graphics and videos to explain concepts in a very interactive and intuitive manner.

Preparatory

The Curriculum is based on team work where the teachers are the facilitators for group discussions, projects as well as hands-on activities and experimentation. The Science and Mathematics labs cater to the development of a scientific temper. Emphasis is laid on ‘learning by doing’ rather than on rote-learning. Project based learning, excursions and student exchange programmes, aid better understanding of the subjects

The Prepratory section comprises of classes from Grade III to Grade V. The minimum age for entry into Class III is 8 years as on 1st June of the year the child is seeking admission. The school timing for the Primary & Secondary section is from 7:45 am to 2:00 pm. The school follows a 6-day week schedule.

Middle stage (Blossoming Stage)

The middle phase comprises 3 years. It includes classes from 6th-8th. Here, the educational paradigm shifts to one that emphasises flexibility in instruction. Children will gain a foundational understanding of maths, science, the arts, and the humanities.

Secondary

The minimum age for entry into Class I is 5.6 years as on 1st June of the year the child is seeking admission. The school timing for the Primary & Secondary section is from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm. The school The activities and experiences which are organized in conformity with CBSE in the senior secondary section add value to the process. The prolific approach and variety of options available make learning productive.The Senior Secondary section comprises of Grades XI & XII. The school timing for the Senior Secondary section is from 8:00 am to 2:30 pm. The school follows a 6-day week schedule.

Evaluation & Assessment

Promotion will be granted on the basis of the entire year’s performance of the student based on the system set up by the CBSE Board.
